Compact Dual Chamber Insulated Hot Komposter
Designed and tested in the cold north of Sweden, this advanced rotational tumbler is heavily insulated so that the internal temperatures can reach 160˚F - promoting enhanced microbial activity for faster breakdown. Two compartments (each with their own handled access doors) allow for continuous composting – fill one side up and let in cook, while adding food scraps to the other side. Sturdy metal stand elevates drum either off the ground or mounted on a wall for more convenient loading of food scraps and emptying of finished compost. When the first chamber is fully decomposed in as little as 8 weeks, empty the mature side and repeat the process. Highly recommended by staff for the colder latitudes but will work effectively in all climate zones.

- Two (2) separate compartments with varying ages of decomposition allow for continuous composting
- Drum style compost tumbler rotates horizontally along a central axis – helping to evenly distribute materials throughout chambers
- Superior insulation allows internal temps to reach 160˚F, promoting active microbial activity – even in the dead of winter
- Two hatch-style access doors with handles for convenient loading and unloading
- Developed for food scraps but will also accept small amounts of soft yard waste, space permitting
- Adjustable side vents provide fresh air and help minimize foul odor – can be closed temporarily during the coldest months to retain internally generated heat
- Sturdy metal stand elevates tumbler off ground or allows for wall mounting, reducing the possibility of entry by rodents and other critters
- Detailed instructions provided with each system
- Activation of pile is accelerated by the addition of fresh manure or live compost from an active pile
- Chamber is considered functionally full when less than 4 inches of open space remains at the top
- Chopping up the waste before adding it to the unit will greatly reduce the decomposition time
- Use sawdust, shredded cardboard or coir to absorb excess moisture, and structure to finish compost, and provide a carbon source to help balance out the high nitrogen food waste
- Rotate unit 1-2 turns with each addition of new waste.
- For excessively moist piles, rotate more frequently
- Keep out soup, sauces, milk and other liquids
