From the top of the pile, plunge the sturdy, 36 in tool into your compost heap. Upon entry, two sets of serrated, hinged wings will collapse against the shaft, allowing for a surprisingly smooth penetration. As you pull up on the two-handled turner, both sets of wings flare out, grabbing compost as they exit. This vertical churning assists with aeration, clump breakage and mixing of compost – without the back strain attributed to shovels or pitch forks! Stirring your pile once every other week will help to evenly distribute materials, heat and beneficial microbes - for a more balanced and uniform decomposition process.
