Mason Bee Nests - 600 Replacement Tubes
Toxin-free, Kraft paper tubes are 6 inch long with a 5/16 inch diameter. Each is wrapped in acetate for added strength and moisture protection. By providing smooth paper tubes, the females have a lot less prep work to do for nest construction and can channel the extra time and energy into egg laying.
Tubes are superior to holes drilled in scrap wood because they are easily removed and replaced, preventing excessive accumulation and infestation by pests. Used nest holes may harbor mites that feed on mason bee babies and juveniles. These parasitic mites can buildup from year to year, harming the new brood.
By having shelters with removal tubes, it is easy to replenish the nest with a fresh supply of clean tubes, providing the pregnant females with a safe place to overwinter their offspring. Tubes that were never utilized may remain in the shelter. Compressed air can help clean out any debris or other insects that may have accumulated in the unused tubes. Case of 600
